This week we finished a lighting makeover for a home in Berkeley Vale. The owners wanted a brighter, more modern living area with lighting they could dim to suit the mood.
What we did
- removed an old pendant near the kitchen and replaced it with 4 dimmable gimbal LED downlights
- removed a second pendant above the couch and replaced it with 6 dimmable gimbal LED downlights
- replaced an existing gimbal downlight with a new one to match
- removed the old ceiling fan
- installed an LED strip light along the full length of the barn door
- installed 2 up/down wall lights above the cabinets
- fitted slim LED oyster lights in two bedrooms, replacing old bayonet light holders
- replaced a circuit breaker with an RCD to give that circuit its own safety-switch protection
Why gimbal downlights?
Gimbal downlights can be tilted to point light where you want it, on artwork, a feature wall or a kitchen bench, rather than just straight down. Paired with a compatible dimmer, they give a bright working light or a soft evening glow from the same switch. Modern LEDs also use a fraction of the power of old halogen or incandescent globes.
